Pre/Postnatal Massage

Fertility Massage - $80

The road to pregnancy can be a stressful one. Over time, chronic stress may hijack a womens’ attempts to get pregnant. Although we don’t fully understand the connection between stress and fertility, we do think that high stress levels confuse the brain’s hormone center. As a result, the brain may not send out the reproductive hormones necessary to tell the ovaries when to release an egg, thus delaying ovulation. Massage therapy can help facilitate the conception process physically by breaking up adhesions and increasing pelvic blood supply and emotionally by reducing stress and cortisol levels..whether you are trying naturally or in conjunction with appropriate medical treatment. Our prenatal certified massage therapists are trained in a combination of special massage techniques for women in fertility, prenatal and post partum massage. In order to receive a fertility massage it needs to be done any time between the start of menstruation until the time of ovulation. Please note, that there are no guarantees that this will work for you.

Baby on Board - $85

During pregnancy a woman’s body goes through many changes. Pregnancy massage helps to relieve back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatic pain, stress and many more symptoms.  We offer a special discount for pregnancy massage when you purchase multiple visits.  Please call our office for prices. Postpartum Massage - $90

Postpartum massage is designed to help restore your body to it's pre-pregnancy condition and to address the demands of structural imbalances, rehabilitating skin, muscles, and organs, and by reducing pain., breastfeeding and the physical and emotional stresses of carrying and caring for a newborn.

Childbirth is typically physically, emotionally, and mentally demanding. Like an athlete who has just run a marathon, the new mother can benefit a great deal from massage. Massage therapy works to ease the aches, pains, and general physical discomforts women experience after giving birth. Postpartum massage focuses on helping to restore the woman's body to its pre-pregnancy condition. Massage therapy plays an important part in the restoration of the abdominal muscle wall and the uterus to its normal state. It helps to realign body weight to its original distribution, and tones over-stretched areas of skin. Massage increases circulation which helps with: the removal of excess fluids and reduces swelling, brings fresh nutrients to the body's systems, and speeds the total healing process.

As with all massage, it relieves muscle tension and stress from everyday activities, especially the responsibilities that correspond with caring for a newborn. In addition to helping restore the physical body, massage therapy also helps to revive the emotional state of the new mother. Postpartum stresses such as sleep deprivation, hormonal changes, postpartum blues, and depression can all be reduced through massage.

Massage therapy can help the new mother to relax, reflect, and enjoy the special time that follows the birth of a baby. When the mother is relaxed and feels good about herself - it is easier for her to fulfill her own needs, as well as the needs of her newborn!

Infant Massage  - $115

Why Get a Massage During Pregnancy?

Pregnancy is a unique time in a woman's life. It is a time filled with emotional changes, from profound love & fulfillment, to doubt, anger & worry. Pregnancy also triggers many structural changes within a woman's body.

Prenatal massage therapy provides women with an experience of nurturing, respectful touch; an experience often missing in this world of technology. Prenatal massage therapy can help relieve many discomforts, which may appear during the three trimesters of pregnancy.

During pregnancy a woman's body undergoes many changes, some of them stressful and uncomfortable. Massage is a perfect way to reduce stress and promote general well-being.

Massage remedies many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, edema, round ligament pain, sciatica, and swollen ankles and feet. Massage also helps the expectant mother by easing the load on the heart and keeping the blood pressure in check, improving the lymphatic and circulatory systems to help control the onslaught of varicose veins, and relieving depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.

If you are like many moms-to-be, you are excited and exhausted simultaneously. As your pregnancy progresses you are experiencing many physical and emotional changes. Caring for yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually is of utmost importance. Massage therapy honors, soothes, and invigorates your body before and after your baby is born.

The Benefits of Massage During Pregnancy

  • Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts during pregnancy, such as backaches, a stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, edema, and sore, swollen ankles and feet.
  • Muscular discomforts, such as cramping, tightening, stiffness, tension, and knots, can all be alleviated.
  • Massage helps mom's body to eliminate waste products through the lymphatic and circulatory systems, which combat fatigue and helps the mother feel more energetic.
  • By aiding circulation, massage eases the load on mom's heart and helps to keep her blood pressure in check.
  • Massage can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes mom is experiencing.
  • Massage helps carry away the lactic acid and other cellular waste products that build up and cause muscle fatigue.
  • Massage increases local and general blood circulation, which brings more oxygen and nutrients to the cells of both the mother and fetus. This means greater vitality and less fatigue for mom and better nourishment for her baby.
  • It relaxes tense muscles and tones loose muscles, and can also increase muscular flexibility. Flexibility will be most helpful during the last trimester and during the birth itself.
  • Massage helps to soothe and relax nervous tension, which helps the mother sleep more easily and more deeply. Incidentally, doctors all agree that a relaxed mother will have a happier, healthier pregnancy and possibly an easier childbirth experience, too.
  • Massage can be used after the birth to help her regain her strength more quickly and ease postpartum stress.
  • There are some contraindications for massage: pre-term labor, threatened miscarriage, pre-exclampsia, toxemia, severe varicose veins – area only, thrombophlebitis and any infectious diseases.
  • If you are unsure if prenatal massage is for you, please consult you physician.
  • It is important that your therapist be trained in Pre-Natal Massage. Deb Keller is a certified Pre-Natal Massage Therapist. She has been trained by BABY Inc. and Nurturing the Mother in fertility, pre-natal and postpartum massage. Pam Kirkpatrick, Sarah Stretchberry and Barb Hiner are also certified by Nuturing the Mother in Prenatal, Fertility and Postpartum Massage.
